Engaging Learning Environment

ANCS is an academically challenging learning institution. We began the 2008 - 2009 academic year in our new location, 120 Ralph McGill Boulevard, situated in the heart of downtown. The new site provides a state-of-the-art learning environment for students and will enable us to expand classroom capacity while fully utilizing the city's cultural and educational resources in the teaching curriculum.

Our school is fully accredited and offers core academic programs that position our alumni for success in the middle school and high school environments, including competitive entry into selective college preparatory programs.

Innovative Philosophy

ANCS believes students need to learn how to think independently, solve problems, communicate effectively and appreciate the opinions of others. We believe several main principles allow ANCS students to capitalize on strengths develop civility and thrive in an ever changing, technologically progressive and diverse society.

Inclusion. We recognize that no two students are alike. Therefore, our teachers seek to honor the differences presented by individual learning styles. In one classroom, you will find the teacher reaching out to students using a variety of teaching methodologies.

Exploration. For students to truly understand how the concepts taught in school relate to the larger community, they must be encouraged to test those concepts outside the classroom. For ANCS students, downtown libraries, museums, theaters, parks and conservatories are their extended classroom.

Involvement. We promote strong parental involvement and offer parents myriad opportunities to be involved with their children's education. Teachers welcome parental input because they understand and truly believe that parents, as the first teachers, are important partners in education.
