What are the common things that make schools great and their students successful? Walker researched more than 200 great schools across the country before founding New Century Schools in 1991. Its downtown campus is chocked-full of the kind of cutting-edge technology that intrigues kids and parents, and his consulting company now has contracts to design and implement education technology programs for schools throughout the U.S. Next on his agenda: designing a high-tech high school that will be partnered with some of Atlanta's leading universities and technology companies. Walker says the school will focus on the core academics along with the fundamentals for careers in information technologies. - HM
